Scott Leonard

Scott is an owner of the Motor City Hit Dogs and current Director of Player Development. He is responsible for sending more than 128 players to high level colleges. Scott's teams have been ranked top 10 in the country each year, winning over 31 USSSA Super NIT Championships, three third (3rd) place finishes at the USSSA Wilson DeMarini World Series and 12 State Championships.

Tony Leonard

Tony Leonard is one of the owners of the Motor City Hit Dogs and current Director of Player Development/ College Placement Coordinator. Tony is currently an Associate Scout for the Detroit Tigers. Most recently (2020), two of his players committed to the University of Alabama and he has had numerous players go on to play College Baseball. He is widely considered as one of the top trainers/youth coaches in the Midwest.

In 2020 Tony's 2023 team won the organization's 3rd Perfect Game National Championship held in Sanford Florida. Coach Tony's teams are always ranked in the top 20 rankings year in and year out.

Tony coaches three teams: 12u, 14u, and 15u/16u.

Board Member, Head Coach 9U Major/15U AA

Mike has been coaching travel baseball for the past seven years. In addition to his experience coaching, he previously ran a small travel baseball program, coached teams at the Showcase Level and brings a passion for development. Sportsmanship, energy and effort are the foundation that Mike teaches and demands from his players, These core values provide the best results and help build the athletes to achieve their full potential.

Devon Conklin

Board Member, Head Coach 17u, Team/Individual Trainer, Asst. Varsity baseball coach at Eisenhower high school in Shelby Township, Michigan

Coach Conklin currently coaches varsity baseball at Utica Eisenhower high school in Shelby Township, MI. Devon is an instructor for our Hit Dog players as well as a head coach for our organization. Harrison Weson

Catching Instructor

Harrison played and started at the University of Michigan for three years before getting drafted by the Los Angeles Angels. Harrison is currently playing High A advanced.

Nick Plummer

Nick was the 2015 first round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals out of high school. Nick was named to the All-State Dream Team, Mr. Baseball, Under Armour All-American, and Perfect Game All-American.

Chris Yates

Hitting and Pitching Instructor, Coach 12U/10U

Chris is a former player for the Houston Astros organization.

Coaches

Mark Hammond III

Head Coach 11U Major

Mark has coached at Shepherd High School since 2016. Prior to that he coached at Breckenridge High School for three years. Both were at the JV level. Mark founded and coached (2016-2018) a travel baseball team (Legends Baseball) He developed an 8U team that had to learn to catch into a young 10U team able to beat strong AA clubs.

As a player Mark was a four year Varsity starter (Captain and MVP) at Breckenridge High School and won All League honors multiple years. He went to Hope College and then made the team at Saginaw Valley State University as a walk on. Mark also played baseball in Australia when he was 15.

Timothy Youngblood

Head Coach 11U Major

Coach Youngblood has been with the Hit Dog Organization since 2011. He has been the head or assistant coach of 8U through 11U. He has served as the high school Assistant Principal of Sterling Heights Stevenson HS since 2014 and also oversees the Athletic program of the building.

Tim played HS football, basketball and baseball at Utica Eisenhower. He served as the captain of all three teams and received numerous honors including MAC Red MVP, First Team All-State and was the quarterback in the East West All Star game.

Tim played football at Hillsdale College from 1993-98 where he was a three year letterman

Brad Legree

Brad played high school baseball, football and wrestling at Hazel Park High School. During his high school career he earned multiple honors in wrestling and football. He then went on to participate in collegiate athletics (wrestling) at Michigan State University. After his college career was over, he finished his Bachelors in Business with a Major in Materials & Logistics Management and minor in Purchasing & Warehouse management.

Brad has coached wrestling, football and baseball. He started coaching baseball in 2009 and he values work ethic, teamwork, collaboration and commitment. We will work hard, have a structured approach to developing our skills while collaborating with experts to learn the game the right way. We are focused on the results using data and strong listening skills to make the required adjustments which help us continually improve our players' abilities. Ultimately, we teach our players the benefits of hard work and commitment, reinforcing them with a positive team-based environment focused on the development of young men, while having fun playing the game of baseball.

Coaching Opportunities

We're Coaching Baseball right and we're on a Mission! We are currently expanding our baseball and softball program and are looking for Coaches who share our #1 goal to transform kids development both athletically and personally. Developing today's players into tomorrow's leaders.

We are looking for qualified Coaches or if you are just starting out. All age groups open. If you are Coaching in a different program and would like to bring your current team over we want you as well. Great leadership skills and positive minded people only. We realize Coaching is a big commitment and this is why each Coach is compensated for their time. We have several Minor league ball players that give personal instruction at a discounted rate for Hit Dogs players.

We provide Coaches with many resources for new techniques, strategies, drills that go in progressive order that will improve each players skill set. For over 13 years we have built many relationships with College Coaches & Scouts. These relationships have been a direct result in why we have had over 80 players advance on to the next level. We have multiple facilities and the VERY BEST equipment available for maximum development. Come join our family and Coach for the BEST program in the Midwest.
